Ukrainian Community of Dialogue Practitioners

The Ukrainian Community of Dialogue Practitioners (UCoDP) is a self-organized professional network of more than 30 members, including experts, independent consultants and NGOs. Those include practitioners and researchers who have been working for more than 20 years in the fields of dialogue, mediation, conflict resolution and peacebuilding in Ukraine and internationally.

About us

01

In their work, UCoDP members use dialogic approaches and facilitated dialogue as a tool for establishing constructive communication and effective joint problem solving between different groups and sectors, developing methodological materials and constantly updated tools based on practical experience. Example include:

“How to work with conflicts in communities in times of war? The concept of mobile groups”

Educational and project activities

02

International advocacy of Ukrainian interests to establish a just and sustainable peace in the region, as well as and globally, is one of the important goals of the UCoDP’s work. The community has released a number of important documents:

Ukrainian Peace Appeal 2023 – A call for peace and informed solidarity from Ukrainian civil society organizations directed towards international pacifist and peacekeeping movements.

“Seven points on the war and dialogue” – a public statement developed by Ukrainian mediators and dialogue facilitators aimed at clarifying necessary realities on the ground, promoting local ownership, outlining important dilemmas and highlighting ways that potential peacebuilding interventions may inadvertently cause harm.

International Advocacy

03

In June 2023, the Ukrainian Community of Dialogue Practitioners was honored with the Socrates Award by Otto Schmidt Verlag in the field of mediation and conflict management.

The award was bestowed in recognition of the significant contribution made to acquainting the international community with the Ukrainian perspective on dialogue and mediation. Specifically, it acknowledged the impact of the statement "Seven Points on War and Dialogue," which garnered considerable international attention.
