A partnership that builds trust and opens up new opportunities

For the Community of Dialogue Practitioners of Ukraine, cooperation with CMI - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is a unique example of how an international organization can not only support, but also strengthen local initiatives and local partners.

CMI is a global peacebuilding organization founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Martti Ahtisaari. It is based on the belief that sustainable peace is only possible when local partners are given the trust and space to act. For us, this partnership is proof that mutual support and synergy can create effects that exceed the sum of individual efforts.

Flexibility and responsiveness

In 2022, less than a month after the start of the full-scale war, thanks to the openness and flexibility of CMI, we were able to launch a project on the work of mobile teams. The idea of combining the expertise of mediators and psychologists received immediate support. Partners reacted quickly thanks to the flexible approach and the ability to quickly redirect resources to support Ukraine.

CMI does not limit itself to the role of a donor. They entrust us with the development of methodologies, implementation of approaches and definition of priorities. This allows us to create solutions that meet the real needs of people on the ground, rather than formal project criteria.

Support and advocacy of ideas

Even when there is no desire to support a particular idea, partners help us advocate for it internationally, introduce us to other organizations and partners who can provide such support. This is a valuable form of interaction that goes beyond the usual support of projects.

Investing in the future

Our partnership includes not only projects in Ukraine, but also opportunities for international cooperation - trips to Ghana and South Africa, exchanges of experience, training. Together with CMI, we analyze lessons and plan next steps.

For us, CMI is not just an international organization. It is a partner who trusts, supports, inspires, and helps us grow.

And we are sure: trust between local and international partners is one of the main keys to sustainable peace.
